Analytical evidence for the absence of spin glass transition on self-dual lattices

چکیده
We show strong evidence for the absence of a finite-temperature spin glass transition for the random-bond Ising model on self-dual lattices. The analysis is performed by an application of duality relations, which enables us to derive a precise but approximate location of the multicritical point on the Nishimori line. This method can be systematically improved to presumably give the exact result asymptotically. The duality analysis, in conjunction with the relationship between the multicritical point and the spin glass transition point for the symmetric distribution function of randomness, leads to the conclusion of the absence of a finite-temperature spin glass transition for the case of symmetric distribution. The result is applicable to the random bond Ising model with ±J or Gaussian distribution and the Potts gauge glass on the square, triangular and hexagonal lattices as well as the random three-body Ising model on the triangular and the Union-Jack lattices and the four dimensional random plaquette gauge model. This conclusion is exact provided that the replica method is valid and the asymptotic limit of the duality analysis yields the exact location of the multicritical point. In this study, stable lattices of terpolymer butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and styrene were synthesized by a mini-emulsion polymerization technique using tert-butyl hydroperoxide TBHP/Fe2 /ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid/sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate redox initiators at room temperature, and the kinetics of the reaction were studied. The reaction rate was obtained from periodic samplin...
متن کاملGlassy behavior induced by geometrical frustration in a hard-core lattice-gas model
– We introduce a hard-core lattice-gas model on generalized Bethe lattices and investigate analytically and numerically its compaction behavior. If compactified slowly, the system undergoes a first-order crystallization transition. If compactified much faster, the system stays in a meta-stable liquid state and undergoes a glass transition under further compaction. We show that this behavior is ...
متن کاملLower-critical spin-glass dimension from 23 sequenced hierarchical models.
The lower-critical dimension for the existence of the Ising spin-glass phase is calculated, numerically exactly, as dL=2.520 for a family of hierarchical lattices, from an essentially exact (correlation coefficent R2=0.999999) near-linear fit to 23 different diminishing fractional dimensions. To obtain this result, the phase transition temperature between the disordered and spin-glass phases, t...
متن کاملAbsence of an equilibrium ferromagnetic spin-glass phase in three dimensions.
Using ground state computations, we study the transition from a spin glass to a ferromagnet in 3D spin glasses when changing the mean value of the spin-spin interaction. We find good evidence for replica symmetry breaking up until the critical value where ferromagnetic ordering sets in, and no ferromagnetic spin glass phase. This phase diagram is in conflict with the droplet/scaling and mean fi...

We consider discrete spin models on arbitrary planar graphs and lattices with frustrated interactions. We first analyze the Ising model with frustrated plaquettes. We use an algebraic approach to derive the result that an Ising model with some of its plaquettes frustrated has a dual model which is an Ising model with an external field ipi/2 applied to the dual sites centered at frustrated plaqu...
